With a simple re-arrangement of the pattern of the holes, normal drain dirt-catchers become “Drain Eye-Catchers.” Normal drain dirt-catchers provide the perfect opportunity for applying ornamental principles: the function (draining water, catching dirt) dictates the structure (disk with holes) from which decoration (arrangement of holes into beautiful patterns without obstructing function) can spring.
The goal was to develop patterns which could be clearly recognized in such a small surface area and which was composed of the right balance between small holes (for the line composition in the pattern to remain recognizable) and big holes (so that the water drains at a proper rate!).
Even though these pieces might look industrially produced at first glace, nothing could be farther from the truth, as they are in fact entirely hand-made.
