Joana Meroz Joana Meroz researches different aspects of design, resulting so far in a non-coherent practice involving collaborative projects, functional and/or metaphorical objects, essays and exhibitions.
Currently her main interest is about the criticality of product design: does design, a prime example of the culture industry, indeed have any critical potential to actively engage in the social debate, as design is presently being asked to do – or not?
In 2006 Joana received her B.F.A. in Autonomous Art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, and in July 2009 she graduated cum laude from the “Conceptual Design in Context” Masters of Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Presently she is following the M.A. “Comparative Arts and Media Studies” at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
